One of the most important sections of your website is your artist statement. Your online portfolio is like a virtual exhibition and your artist statement helps them understand your work, why you do it and how you do it. It invites them into your world and your process. So writing your artist statement is a necessary part of your art business practice and it should be updated as your artwork evolves.

That being said, I don’t know an artist that doesn’t struggle with writing an artist statement, even those artists who are good writers. I’ve collected some articles that I think are very useful for organizing your thoughts into a cohesive artist statement. I hope you find them helpful, I did.
